Thigns to do

Traveling to Corbin in about 2 weeks- planning to stay at the the Dupont Lodge, and see the falls. Are there any other noteworthy things to do in this area? ...or close by?

Thigns to do

Not really. Corbin is small and not the biggest tourist destination. A few restaurants, a Wal-mart and the state park. You are getting into the mountains and there%26#39;s not a lot there. Big city compared to some in that area though. *grins*

If you are heading towards Lexington, you might consider stopping at Berea for the Old Town artists.

You can also go white water rafting at the base of the falls.

In the Falls state park, there%26#39;s horseback riding, lots of hiking trails and white water rafting. There%26#39;s not a whole lot to do in Corbin. There%26#39;s the Colonel Sanders Museum (home of the first KFC).

There%26#39;s also Laurel Lake. I believe The Grove marina would be the closest one from the falls. I%26#39;m pretty sure they have boat rentals.

On certain weekend nights, Somerset does an old car cruise. I%26#39;ve never been, but I%26#39;m told they have literally thousands of cars.

Cumberland Gap State Park is also about an hour east.

Berea is definitely nice for arts %26amp; crafts. It%26#39;s 60 miles north on I-75. However, if you%26#39;re coming from Cincy, I%26#39;d just make it a stop on the way.

Here%26#39;s some info on the area from an earlier thread.

Gosh, there%26#39;s plenty to do right at the park if you%26#39;re the outdoor type... So much great hiking (see Dogslaughter Falls and hike along the lower Cumberland as well as white-water raft it (guided), catch the moonbow (only one of two in the world), and be sure to visit the Kentucky Fried Chicken museum/Colonel Sanders%26#39; first restaurant and also sample a regional favorite, the ';chili bun';...

Berea isn%26#39;t far up the road and also a great place.
