And yes we still have lots of water. Its still a very beautiful lake and ths fishing is still good. They wont be dropping the water any lower and its not that low now in most places. Things havent changed much here. If your looking for a quieter area of the Lake try Russell Co. thats is if you dont want to deal with traffic like Somerset has. There is Russell Springs and Jamestown both quiet aeas of the lake. You can still enjoy Lake Cumberland. Come visit!
I live and work on Lake Cumberland
I have never been to Lake Cumberland, but I have a lot of friends who go regularly. Some own land there. My husband and I have been searching for lakefront property in several states with hopes to buy or build a family cabin. We just received a flyer in the mail with information about waterfront land for sale on Lake Cumberland near the Jamestown Square area. We would love to get your opinion on investing in land there, how the conditions are in that area, and any other thoughts you may have.
I live and work on Lake Cumberland
Hi, Lake Cumberland is a great area to live in. It depends on what you like. If you like no traffic, small quiet towns look in Russell Co. Jamestown, Ky. or Russell Springs if you want a more larger area more traffic which isnt for me try Somerset, Ky. In Russell Co life is slower prices are down right now on lake front homes because of the lake construction although its not bad in most areas and we were informed they wont be dropping the lake any lower. This would be a good time to make an investment in lake front prop. Prices will go up when dam consrtuction is over.
Another thought you can buy cheaper than build right now as far as I know. I think with what Ive seen I couldnt build for that much there is a web page I look at as a passtime I think its lakecumberlandrealestate.com if not run a search on homes for sale in Jamestown Ky. Make an offer on one you might be surprised. Also you might try Campbellsville, Ky I like it there too has more shopping closer to Elizabethtown. Its on Green River Lake its a nice lake too.
Does anyone have any information on ';The Peninsula on Lake Cumberland';? They have done a marketing blitz and are trying to sell about 120+ acres however I know very little about that area and want to make sure if I drop the cash for the land, that I%26#39;m not in a bad area or an area that isn%26#39;t ';up and coming';. The sale is happening this weekend so any insight is appreciated!
We are considering renting a houseboat for the first time and are wondering the best place to rent one. Also, will there be places that we can dock and get off the boat and do some different activities or shop?
Depends on what you mean by things nearby. If you like a rural setitng, Cumberland could be for you. However, I should warn you it is rural. Somerset is not very big. Knoxville, Tenn is about the nearest big city. If you want the south, with things nearby, perhaps Douglas Dam in Sevier Co. Tenn? Knoxville is about 45 minutes away, near Gatlinburg as well.
Shopping will be for bait. Also, Somerset is a dry county, so not much there. If you are worried about being bored with a houseboat, then you may want to reconsider. The time I did the houseboat cruise, we were with 4 other couples. We packed great food, half the beer in Ky, lots of great tunes and spent the time swimming, dancing, playing games, drinking and just chilling out. We didn%26#39;t need shopping or movies or restaurants. We never really went ashore, but to buy gas and use restrooms. We also met lots of other people just hanging out and it was fun. Definitely not the vacation for everyone, but we only did it for 4 days, so it was great....
This summer, we%26#39;ve rented a houseboat to cruise the Burgundy canal in France. it will be rural, but quaint!!
