Possibly planning either a one day trip or two day trip into this area. Haven%26#39;t been there since I was a child. Could someone give me some ideas on visiting and some ideas on nice places to stay. Has to be reasonable and definitely clean!!!!! Great if it had an indoor pool.
Need advice on one day trip
In Danville (10 miles south) there is a Hampton Inn. I haven%26#39;t been to this location but I%26#39;ve been to many others. They almost always have an indoor pool (you can call to check), are very clean, have nice furniture and bedding, and free breakfast. Only one I%26#39;ve been to without an indoor pool was in Pueblo Colorado. The one in Pigeon forge has both an indoor and an outdoor pool! Overall Hampton Inns are my first choice. Fairfield Inns (none in the area)would be second and Comfort Suites third (one in Danville with an indoor pool). They%26#39;re all nice.

My husband is from Harrodsburg and we are there often. Not a whole lot to see and do...but for a overnight, have you considered Shaker Village?

That is a very cool place and the food/dining experience is great. I think that beats some chain hotel that you can find anywhere. Another wonderful place is the historic Beaumont Inn:

I know there are a handful of events and festivals during the summer. Probably the most popular is the ';World%26#39;s Largest Yard Sale'; along 127 that stretches hundreds of miles. There%26#39;s also an antique road sale the weekend after Mothers Day.
Ft Harrod is a reproduction of the old fort, but not authentic. There%26#39;s a small museum there and some interesting Civil War displays. You can take a walking/driving tour of the old mansions in town. Herrington Lake is close, it%26#39;s a great place for sports activities.
I would reccommend the Comfort Suites in Danville. I just recently went there and the management has turned over. I was told by the young man that they are starting to renovate the property now. New bedding, carpet, curtains and a more items to their hot breakfast (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage links). I can%26#39;t wait to go back and see all the upgrades to this already beautiful property!
