I am taking my son and his buddy to see the Gigantour at the Louisville Gardens in April. We are going to have to spend the night due to the long drive. Which hotel is closest? The boys are 16 and 17, is there a hotel they could walk to and from safely on a Saturday night?
Louisville Garden - close hotel w/teens
Going soley on Google maps, the closest hotel is the Seelbach Hilton Louisville鈥? it%26#39;s roughly 2 blocks away.
Funny, I came here to ask if it walking from the Marriot Courtyard to the Louisville Gardens would be safe to do late at night - that%26#39;s about an 8-9 block hike. We%26#39;re going to the Gigantour in April as well. :) I%26#39;d be interested in hearing from the locals on your question as well as mine, no idea what their downtown is like. I%26#39;d never do this in, say, Atlanta!

Hi guys! First, our downtown area is safe to walk. You might also look at the trolley schedule, as that is a super easy way to get around downtown and not have to worry about parking, etc.

You%26#39;ll see it goes right to 5th and Muhammed Ali where the Gardens is located.
The Seelbach is an old restoration hotel- lots of history and very pretty. However, it%26#39;s rather expensive, and the rooms are small. I think a better choice would be the Hyatt (next to 4th Street Live)the Galt House or Marriott.
There are a few athletic events which are held that weekend in conjunction with the Derby festival, so get your rooms stat!
I agree, downtown is pretty safe. For a 16 and a 17 year old with common sense, they shouldn%26#39;t have any problems at all. The outer areas of downtown can get a little sketchy, but if you are ';downtown'; i.e. around the skyscrapers you%26#39;re perfectly fine.
The Seelbach is one of the nicest hotels in the city and very expensive. I would go with the Holiday Inn on Broadway or the marriot. The marriot is closer but also probably more expensive.
make sure you check out 4th street live while downtown, lots of restaurants, hard rock cafe, etc.
Wow, you guys are the best - thank you!
Thank you very much for the responses, I feel better now!
