Cant decide where to stay???downtown or near town

Im having a hard time deciding where we should stay. I have been reading all the reviews on the hotels that interest me but still cant decide. Here are the hotels that interest me.

Galt-

Wingate

Hyatt

Hawthorne

Embassy- I like this one a lot but not sure onlocation. Offer free breakfast.

maybe Hawthorne- read its in bad area-noisy

I know some are downtown and some arent I guess thats another ??? It seems like they charge ALOT more for downtown hotels and 12.00 for parking Wow. How is the drive from those hotels that say they are 15 min away?? alot a traffic? What hotels are near downtown but not right in the middle.

Once more question,Where are the ';goto list'; located. Thanks a million

from what I can tell, the Wingate and Embassy suites are off Hurstbourne Lane and I-64. Terrible area. Loads of traffic, major traffic jams all day. Lots and lots of chain restaurants, etc. The Hawthorne is close to the Mall St Matthews in the East End. Not too bad a location, but not really convenient either. Go for the Galt or Hyatt. Also, there%26#39;s a Hampton Inn downtown which might fit your budget and it%26#39;s convenient. Also a Courtyard by Marriott and a Marriott Residence inn.

I%26#39;m not sure where you%26#39;re getting your rates, my source said parking was $9 at the Galt House. Anyway, you%26#39;ll save gas by doing the downtown attractions by foot and trolley. Also, start at www.kayak.com and search for a hotel on the given dates. That site will find the cheapest rate offered on those properties whether it%26#39;s from the hotel itself or an online travel site such as Expedia.

Can you give us the location of the places you are thinking of outside of downtown? If they are around the Hurstborne area, the other poster is right...Traffic is HORRIBLE at certain times of the day.

I was just looking for my husband, he usually doenst like to stay right in the thick of things so I was looking maybe to stay a couple miles outside of town but by the sounds of it it maybe better/cheaper to stay where the action is at this time :)

ANy comments on Courtyard by Marriot downtown? I just found (what I think is) a really good rate 119.00/nite with breakfast. I thought that sounded decent. However, the reviews are all just medium to good and its only 2 stars whatever that is worth. But pics and description look good. What do you think.

Thanks :)

I have no idea about the Courtyard by Mariott. If you stay at the one off Hurstborne Lane, I think it%26#39;s pretty new, but it%26#39;s in a very high traffic area.

The downtown one is new as well. It%26#39;s right in the middle of many of the places you might like to see, but I%26#39;m not sure how nice it is either.

You probably can%26#39;t go wrong with either one.
