Bachelor Party

I am planning a bachelor party in Louisville for this spring, and I am looking for some suggestions. This will be a group of approximately 15 guys in their upper 20’s. First off, I don’t know much about the Louisville area, so any help is appreciated. I have heard some good things about the Bardstown area.

We are looking for the best area to get a hotel and the best hotels in that area for the price. I’m not looking to spend a ton of money on hotel rooms that we won’t be spending that much time in. We will probably be going to bars in the Bardstown area and also the 4th street area (I’ve heard a little about these places by reading other posts). We will also be going to other establishments that are frequented by gentlemen during bachelor parties… (I appreciate any suggestions on such establishments). So, what area and hotels are the best for what I am planning on doing? I would like to find a hotel with a suite for the bachelor.

Also, we are going to golf one morning while we are in town. We are looking for a “decent” public course with low greens fees...nothing special.

Thanks for your help!!

Jeff

Be careful when you are booking a room or asking around that you actually ask for ';Bardstown Road';, not just Bardstown. You might end up with a room in Bardstown, KY which is about 45 minutes from Louisville. I think you are talking about the ';Bardstown Road'; area, which is an area of town in Louisville that has tons of cool bars, restaurants and shops. You%26#39;ll definitely want to visit this section of town on your visit but unfortunately there aren%26#39;t any hotels in the immediate area so you%26#39;ll have to drive or cab in. It%26#39;s only about a 5-10min drive from downtown. I%26#39;d suggest you stay downtown where you could walk to 4th street live and drive to your other destinations. The Galt House, Marriott, or Hyatt are all nice options that should offer suites. When exactly are you planning on visiting this Spring? Just be sure to keep in mind that certain times in April (and of course the first weekend in May) can be expensive because of Derby festivities.

You%26#39;ll probably want to stay somewhere downtown. As previously mentioned. No hotels in the Bardstown Road area.

The Residence Inn by Marriott on Market St. is really close to Slugger Field (if baseball is of any interest). Looks like the season starts on April 11th. Good place to see a game. Not a bad seat in the place. Brownings Brew Pub and the more upscale Park Place on Main is also located on Slugger Field (no ticket required to visit the restaurants).

PT%26#39;s Showclub (on Market St. downtown) is probably your best bet for a ';gentlemen%26#39;s club';. At least, it seems to be the least seedy to me. But I%26#39;m a girl, so some guys out there may have a better suggestion.

Louisville has a bunch of public golf courses. I guess my recommendation (based solely on location) would be.....

Cherokee Golf Course (located in Cherokee Park) in the Highlands/Bardstown Rd. area.

Seneca Golf Course (located in Seneca Park which connects with Cherokee Park)

Note: The last time I played Cherokee (a couple of years ago), they did not want you to bring your own beer in a cooler, so be stealthy. You can buy it there also.

Bardstown Road/Baxter Ave. for pubs, bars and restaurants. You%26#39;ll find the locals here.

Fourth Street Live. Just be aware that it%26#39;s a little more themed. Not so many locals there. Tends to draw a younger crowd. But! I think it might be a good choice for a bachelor party. Definitely check it out.

Check the LEO and Velocity (our local, weekly entertainment guides) to see what%26#39;s going on around town as far as live music etc.

Just in case you need a validating view from a male:

Yep, P.T.s.

And if you want to mess with the bachelor%26#39;s head:

While you%26#39;re in the area of PT%26#39;s, pop around the corner and drag him into the Connection for the drag show. It%26#39;s a gay bar with awesome dance music and a highly entertaining drag show.

Don%26#39;t tell him where you%26#39;re going before you go in. You can%26#39;t tell from the outside what it is. I don%26#39;t even think there is a sign out front.

It%26#39;s on Floyd St., right around the corner from PTs.

Of course, my sense of humor may be very different from yours.
