Derby weekend

Where can I find info on things going on during derby weekend? I know last year they had live bands playing outside one night? Just not sure where to look? Not really clubs or bars. thanks

The B-52s are doing a free concert on the Waterfront on Derby Eve. I believe you may need a Derby Pin for this event ($3).

You should be able to find them in many retailers--supermarkets

Another question? If we are parking downtown and taking shuttle to oaks/derby, how do we get to where this concert is? Is it downtown as well? Thanks again... getting excited now!!!

Yes, the riverfront is downtown. They also have a trolley which runs all over the city. Where are you staying or using as a base?

We are staying in Corydon, In. Prices are too high in city for me. Is that a bad drive to downtown? Last year we stayed in Sheperdsville, wanted try someting else this year. We are also wanting to try the casino in IN, any idea far that is from where we are staying? thanks again

Corydon is actually a really cool little city. You can get to downtown in about 20 min. The gambling boat was once called Caesar%26#39;s but has now been claimed by the Horseshoe group. I am not into that at all. I%26#39;ve been there and played there as a musician, but it is very smoky, loud and the food is awful. I would do my gambling at the very nice track. However, if you want to go there, it%26#39;s a bit southeast of Corydon, about 20 min on two lane roads.

Oh, sorry...I meant to add that if you are traveling to downtown Louisville and want to take shuttles to the track, or just party in downtown, your best parking spots will be at the Ky center at 7th and Main, the Galt house at 4th and Main. the Hyatt at 3rd and Jefferson, the National City garage at ..mmm..or the jail/courthouse garage at 6th and Jeff. It gets crazy at Derby..give yourself plenty of time to find parking and wear comfy shoes!!!
