Mammoth Cave to Pigeon Forge - where to take a break ??

We will be travelling from Mammoth Cave to Pigeon Forge and want to stop somewhere for the afternoon/night to break the journey. Would be grateful for any ideas of where to stop. We will be travelling mid April

Thanks

A great half way point between Mammoth Cave and the Smokies would be Cumberland Falls State Park, Ky. It is about 2 1/2 hrs from Mammoth Cave and then it is probably about another 2 1/2 on to Pigeon Forge.

I%26#39;ll second Cumberland Falls State Park/Corbin KY area.

The falls are beautiful, and if you go during a full moon, you%26#39;ll catch one of the very few moonbows in the Western Hemesphere. I keep prominsing myself, one day I%26#39;ll hit the falls during a full moon. Haven%26#39;t yet, but one of these days...

The full moon in April is on the 20th...a Sunday. I think there would be a moonbow from the 18th through the 22nd.

A bit of history if you like Kentucky Fried Chicken. The original KFC is in Corbin which is about 10-15 miles away from the park. There%26#39;s the restaurant, and then there%26#39;s a small museum within the restaurant.

Thanks for the suggestion we will look up Cumberland Falls

Do not take a break get to the mountains and enjoy them! OK if you have to take a break Cumberland Falls would be nice. It is one of those places I have wanted to go to for a long time but my car goes on to the mountains.

That%26#39;s only a five hour drive; are you sure you want to spread that out over two days? Unless you have a particular interest in seeing something on the way, I would take the whole drive in one day.

Another option for a two day drive would be to go through Nashville, adding one hour to your drive.
