Ms Alicia...please help

Hi Ms Alicia,

When you said a while back that you stayed at the Fairfield Inn on the Indiana side for Thunder Over Louisville a couple of years ago.....is that hotel called something else now? I can%26#39;t find it and I am desperately needing a good, not so rowdy hotel for Thunder 2008. I got the ';for sure'; that my husband will not have to work this year and I really want him to see the fireworks and I want a great area to see the air show....THANK YOU SO MUCH.....

Ms Alicia...please help

Sure! It has been a few years but I believe it is still called the Fairfield Inn Louisville North, but it is actually located in Jeffersonville

Indiana. We had a great, relaxing time, but get there early because they start closing the nearby streets at about 10am on Thunder day. They will let you check in early and give your party wristbands.

Thank you so much. I will see if they have any rooms...I%26#39;m afraid it may be too late.

Thanks also for the tips.

Well, I%26#39;m back to see if you have a good suggestion for me.

I cannot find a hotel room near Thunder! I have checked the Louisville downtown map plus the 3 hotels in Jeffersonville, IN. NOTHING!!!

Any advice?

Thanks.

You may want to call them directly. Often times for special events they show as sold out online but if you call they actually have availability. They just may have lengthy rules or don%26#39;t offer discounts so they prefer to do business one on one. Try that and if you still have no luck post back. Good luck!

Ms Alicia,

I tried your suggestion but no luck. Can you tell me how close this b%26amp;b is to the downtown thunder events? www.thegalleryhouse.com

Thanks again.

Ground zero for the Thunder stuff is at the river front. Looks like The Gallery House is around 6th St. %26amp; Magnolia (in Old Louisville) which would be about 2-3 miles away.

Thanks Seagrover. I guess I%26#39;m out of luck this year.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Even though you probably wouldn%26#39;t want to watch the fireworks from The Gallery House, you could still stay there and travel down to the riverfront. Either take a taxi or drive it (if you dare). We live in the Highlands which is about 3-4 miles away from where we watch. We ride our bicycles down which really beats sitting in stand still traffic. You might check to see if the Gallery House has any bikes.

There are lots of places to watch the fireworks. Slugger Baseball Field sells fairly reasonable reserved seats and usually has some sort of band playing before the Thunder starts. I found an article about it from last year.....

I think most of the riverfront restaurants also sell seats. (I have no idea what they cost) Joe%26#39;s Crabshack on the Louisville side. Buckhead%26#39;s, Kingfish, Rocky%26#39;s on the Indiana side. Otherwise, you can just bring a fold-up chair or blanket and find a spot.

Thanks Seagrover. Great suggestion. Do they have parking for the bikes?

I got a room at the Seelbach and I know that 21c has some availability now as well (they were booked up 2 weeks ago). Neither are going to give you ring side seats, but they are both downtown and within walking distance to the water front.

You may want to go back and recheck some other hotels. Maybe other places have had cancelations and are now available.
