The Galt House vs.The Marriott

My husband and I are coming into town for a long relaxing weekend. The only real plan is to go to the Louiville Slugger Museum and maybe go out for an evening. I am looking at the Marriot Downtown or the Galt House - any feedback? I really like the view and the pool at the Galt House, but the reviews seem mediocre.

Thanks in advance!

The Galt House vs.The Marriott

All I can say for sure is that the experience at the Galt House seems to depend entirely on which room they put you in. The reviews seem to indicate that maybe a few aren%26#39;t fully renovated? Either hotel is centrally located, but the Marriott downtown is still new and it%26#39;s lovely.

If you are willing to possibly stay at the Hyatt, you can bid on a room through Priceline and get a bargain at any one of those three (3 star downtown)

The Galt House vs.The Marriott

I prefer the Marriott, Hyatt, or even the Residence Inn downtown. If you get the Marriott rewards, the Residence Inn can end up being quite cheap.

I stayed at the residence inn a few weeks ago, it was really nice. Its brand new, opening a week before hte derby, and its reasonably priced, though if your thinking about the galt house, I guess price is not a problem.

I would recommend the Marriott too . . . I stayed there a couple of years ago and the beds ARE TO DIE FOR!!!!!! Also it has a starbucks right off the lobby which was a real plus for me.

I would stay away from the Galt House . . . if state adminstrators schedule state employees into a hotel then . . . you don%26#39;t want to stay there for leisure purposes. I guess what I%26#39;m saying is . . . the state doesn%26#39;t put their employees in 4 or 5 star hotels. :(

And the Marriott is right around the corner from 4th Street Live with LOTS of places to eat and great nightlife!!

Thanks for all the feedback - I guess against advice - based on the great package deal I got which placed the nightly price far under Marriott or Hyatt with Parking and breakfast, I chose the Galt House. We had a very pleasant stay, it was spacious, clean, and the elevators were not an issue. The only real annoyance was the volleyball and cheerleading groups staying there, but it appears that Louisville is a meca for conferences.

Thanks for all your feedback!
