what to do

hey

i will be in kentucky for just 2 days in may (not kentucky derby) and i was wondering what can i do?

I have a car and am willing to drive throughout the state but i have had a quick look for what to do and i have not seen much of interest.

i am interested in nature mainly and sports. are there any good national parks?

Any help would be great

Thanks

what to do

Churchill Downs will be open so I%26#39;d recommend a visit to ';the world%26#39;s most legendary race track';. If you%26#39;re a baseball fan I%26#39;d suggest the Louisville Slugger Museum--an excellent overall baseball museum-- as well as the AAA Louisville Bats baseball team which plays in beautiful Slugger Field.

As far as parks go, Mammoth Cave is one of the wonders of the world and well worth a visit.

The Kentucky Horse Park, north of Lexington is outstanding and covers all breeds of horses, not just thorughbreds.

what to do

If you care to wander clear to Western KY, you%26#39;ll find lots of nature at Land Between the lakes which is now run by the Forest Service. You can check it out at www.lbl.org

Where will you be based? Louisville? Lexington? There really is a lot to see here. Please give us a bit more about where and when you%26#39;ll be here, and we can give you tons of ideas about what to do.

Natural bridge state park or Red River Gorge geological area are beautiful places to see. Lots of rock arches and formations formed by the wind over time. They are in the Slade area east of Lexington.

Hey

thanks guys thats been a great help and i have looked at everything you have showed me and it all looks great. I will be based in lexington but i think for my first day i will go to the caves as they look amazing.

Thanks Again

Just a reminder to book your cave tour in advance. They have cut back on the numbers of tours and they book up well in advance! Enjoy your stay!

Near the caves is the Corvette museum and north of the caves is Lincoln%26#39;s birthplace if you like history.

From Lexington you can take the Bluegrass Parkway west to Bardstown. Lots of history. The Bernheim Forest is just west of Bardstown and covers 16,000 acres. They have a visitors center, interpretive areas and lots of trails. Lots of distillery tours around Bardstown too.
