Waterfront concert in August - 1st time in KY!

We%26#39;ll (6 of us) be traveling from PA in August to see a show at the waterfront. Its our first time in Louisville and we%26#39;re clueless about everything! So, any help you can provide would be great:

1)Is there a reasonably priced place to stay within walking distance to the waterfront park? Is there a hotel with suites?

2)What are the ';must dos'; in Louisville? We%26#39;ll have 1 1/2 days to check out the sights...

3)Are there any reasonably priced, non-chain, restaurants in the area that you would recommend?

Thanks!

Are you coming in to see MMJ by any chance?

1) There are a number of hotels within walking distance (or a free trolley ride) to Waterfront Park. The Residence Inn at 333 E Market St is only about 2-3 blocks away from Waterfront Park and Louisville Slugger Field. I believe it is all suites.

2) Read through some of the previous threads for ';what to do'; suggestions. I think LLindaC also has a pretty extensive ';go list'; Depending upon your interests %26amp; ages, you might...

-Attend the concert

-Go to a Louisville Bats baseball game

-Take a distillery tour

-Wander Bardstown Road

-Louisville Slugger Museum

-Churchill Downs Museum

3) Louisville has a vibrant non-chain, restaurant scene. There are several in the downtown area. I%26#39;m sure the members of this site will give you a ton of suggestions. You may also want to check out this local restaurant forum. The people on the site are all local foodies %26amp; restaurant people. Ask your question there and you%26#39;ll get a bunch of ideas.

Yay! We love MMJ! They are from here, so we%26#39;ve seen them a bunch. Also saw them at Lollapalooza in Chicago this past August. They were great!

If you let us know what kind of food/atmosphere you%26#39;re looking for, we can definitely suggest some restaurants. I was in a hurry when I wrote the last post.

In the downtown area, you might want to check these out. All are within a few blocks of The Residence Inn....
