Derby what to wear

I am so confused, after reading many things on the internet, I am totally confused as to what to wear.

We are sitting in section 125 in the grandstand row B. Sounds like similar to a previous poster. Please tell me now what to wear. I have a dress (buble/tent style) on hold that I have to go pick up today. But it sounds like this may be more of a casual section. I was planning on wearing a hat, but maybe I don%26#39;t need to. And I%26#39;m really curious about shoes and/or hose. HELP!

Maybe this will help. Take a look at this Flickr.com photo set. It%26#39;s from Derby last year. These people are sitting in the 1st floor grandstand area where your seats are (you can tell by the metal benches). If you look at the last photo, you can see how everyone will be dressed (again it%26#39;s mixed bag).

My advice is to wear your dress %26amp; hat. The girl in the photos is completely appropriate %26amp; looks great. I just wouldn%26#39;t run out and spend a fortune.

Thank you for the response. I%26#39;m afraid I might be a tad overdressed, I don%26#39;t think I want to wear a sundress per se as it appears as though it is going to be a bit on the chilly side. Thank you for forwarding the pics, it was a huge help!

I%26#39;m in section 124 (we%26#39;ll be neighbors!)....my friend and I will be wearing our sundresses and hats and our husbands will be in light colored suits and ties.

Others in our section may be less dressed up.....but my thought is that this is probably the only time I%26#39;ll go to the Derby and looking the part is half the fun!

So, if you don%26#39;t mind spending the money on the dress you have on hold, then go all out and dress the part.

My dress is kinda brightly colored with the ';picasso'; look (black %26amp; hot pink to be exact), my fashion consultant (my 19 year old son) says that he thinks its too bright, that the derby you should wear more cream, earth and pastel colors. Is that true? He said that I look like a suburban housewife trying to hard - lol. Are the bright picasso colors taboo?
