Sunday Night restaurants

coming in and picking up a few guests on a sunday for dinner. Turns out all the ';fine dining'; downtown is pretty much shut down on sunday nights. We are staying at the Seelbach, but picking up someone near Audobon park and meeting someone from Valley Station. Anything semi-fancy, full bar, in those areas open sunday nights?

I found a website for Tumbleweed in Valley Station, but no hours posted on their site. I would guess they are open on sundays - look like a chain

Your non-chain options are going to be somewhat limited in the Valley Station area. Tumbleweed is a small chain that originated in this area. I%26#39;m not absolutely sure, but I%26#39;d bet that they are open on Sunday evening.

Otherwise, there are lots of non-chain restaurants along Bardstown Road. Most will be open on Sunday night and will have full bars. I%26#39;d suggest dining on the patio at Avalon. I think the weather is supposed to be nice on Sunday.

I agree with Seagrover. From Audobon Park travel north until you get to Eastern Parkway. Turn left and take E.P. to Bardstown Road. Turn left on Bardstown Rd. You%26#39;ll pass Avalon that was mentioned as well as several other nice places to eat. Jack Fry%26#39;s, Bristol Bar %26amp; Grille (also nice outdoor dining), Impellizeri%26#39;s Pizza, many others. Or turn right on Bardstown Rd. and you%26#39;ll see Seviche, very good food. Love that place. And Sapporo is just a little further up on the right. Great sushi. Also that direction: Cafe Metro, Uptown Cafe.

Have fun.

What Okae said!

Any of those suggestions would be good eats. Here%26#39;s a site where you can check out the menus.......

oakae and seagrover are correct! Valley Station is not where you want to ';dine';. Also check out www.louisvillehotbytes.com

for great suggestions. There are also several superb places on Frankfort Ave. A new favorite of mine is Varanese...great food, unique setting, casual but wonderful and they even have sandwiches on the dinner menu.

This is one of the best new restaurants in the city! We also like Volare on Frankfort Ave. Seviche (mentioned above) has lots of Sunday discounts and specials. If you eat in the bar at Volare, all bottles of wine are half priced.

If you are looking for fine dining, your best bet might be to look along Bardstown Road or Frankfort Avenue and see what is open. Along Bardstown Road, I kow that Cafe Metro and Uptown Cafe are both closed on Sundays, but Serviche and Avalon are both excellent choices. As for Frankfort Ave, I went to Volare last night for dinner and it was wonderful, perhaps one of the best meals that I have had here in Louisville. As far as downtown goes, Proof On Main at the 21C Museum Hotel has excellnt food and is probably on of the most unique restaurants in the city. Another place that I always enjoy, though not fine dining is Captains Quarters, which sits on the river. Although not too close to downtown, it is a real nice scenic drive out River Road, and although not upscale the food can be very good.

Pllease do not go to Tumbleweed, the food is dreadful. It is a faux Mexican/Western restaurant and the food is inauthentic and uninspired.

oh so true...Tumbleweed is even one step below Taco Bell! BLEECCKKKK
