Races at Churchill Downs

We are planning on going to the races at Churchill Downs on Saturday, July 5th. From the website, it looks like it%26#39;s the last weekend of the spring races. My husband is quite the fan of Churchill Downs and I want to make it a memorable experience. Can anyone give me any hints or suggestions for making it a successful outing? Is it possible to get better seating other than the general admission? Will this be a crowded weekend due to the holiday and/or the fact that it%26#39;s the last weekend of the spring races? Our dream is someday to attend the Derby, but until then, we want this experience to the best...

Races at Churchill Downs

I hope you will enjoy your trip to Churchill Downs.I was there both yesterday and today. I think you can still get good seats if your order them now for, say, the third floor clubhouse. Unless it%26#39;s a special even seats would be only $5.00 or so. You might also call Churchill Downs and inquire about the Skye Terrace or Millionaires row seats. They will cost more but the view is great and you can take advantage of (and pay for) a nice buffet.

The finish line corresponds to clubhouse seats in section 317. 318 would be up the track (before the finish line) and 319 would be past the finish line.

Make sure you schedule time for a tour of the Ky. Derby Museum on the grounds of Churchill Downs. Make sure you especially see the 360 degree film about derby day. its pretty awesome!Also call and check out a tour of the backside,where all the stables are.

You may want to check out the free concerts at Waterfront Park (downtown on the river) on July 4th %26amp; 5th.

Gary Allan is the headliner for Friday, July 4th.

George Clinton %26amp; Parliament Funkadelic are the headliners for Saturday, July 5th. There are several openers prior to each headliner. Fireworks later on both nights.

Hey! We%26#39;re from Iowa! And will at the Churchill Downs July 4th. You better check the race schedule, if your planning on seeing a race - I don%26#39;t think there is one on Jluy 5. The last one for the season is July 6. Also the Gary Allan concert is July 3. We will be there!

There is live racing all day on July 5th. There just aren%26#39;t any special promotional events, picnics, giveaways etc.

Do they have any weekday races?

yes, in June racing is Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. you can see racing scedule at www.churchilldowns.com

There%26#39;s also live racing on Thursdays. Monday %26amp; Tuesday are the only days without live racing.
