girls weekend in Lexington

My girlfriend and I are traveling to Lexington from Illinois to meet our other friend traveling from Tennesee. This is about the halfway point for each of us. I%26#39;m looking at all the hotel/motel choices and trying to decide where to stay. I%26#39;m considering doing Priceline (never used it before) for a top notch hotel downtown, but I always worry about the area of the city it might be in. Surely they don%26#39;t put a top notch hotel in a rough area of a city? We%26#39;d like to just shop and eat and have fun for the weekend. Can you give me some brief guidelines as to areas to avoid, areas with great shopping, etc.

Katy if you want to be near the bar scene and other boutiques and shops you might enjoy being downtown. You will come across many shops that are not chains here and that are unique to the area.

The Hamburg shopping area is VERY nice. It is like a large shopping mall but outside so you can park at each individual store if you like or just park and walk.

Theres a huge variety of stores such as Old Navy, Gap, Victorias Secret, Michaels, KOHLS, Best Buy, Barnes and Noble, 1/2 Price books, Target, Meijer, etc here.

There are also plenty of restaurants.

Or you can head over to the Nicholasville Rd area where the Fayette Mall is and the Lexington Green. You can visit the Joseph Beth Bookstore here which is 2 stories of books, shops, and food. A GREAT place to visit.

There are several wineries in the area.

The Radisson downtown is very nice I hear and within walking distance to a lot of stuff.

Griffin Gate Marriott is a nice hotel but a bit far out if you want to be near nightlife.

I hope this helps......

I would stay at the Gratz Park Inn. It is within walking distance of lots of things to do. There are numerous good restaurants very close, as well as a great one in the Inn itself. The bars aren%26#39;t too far either.

I have walked in this area with friends many times and feel very safe.

hi - you might also considering going to the ';melting pot'; ..... really fun restaurant for girls night out :).

All of the downtown hotels are safe and in nice areas, downtown is not that big and none are significantly nicer, so Priceline would be a good place to try first. As a previous person said, Gratz park Inn is nice and in a central location, but would be more expensive than the other downtown hotels. It has a good restaraunt in it and a good breakfast.

For a girls dinner out, I recommend two places that are local so you would have a unique experience, one is ';Saul Good Pub';. It is near the mall (not in downtown) but it is a bar with exceptional food. They planned the menu with women in mind (all desserts are chocolate!) We go there a lot for girls night out.

The other one I recommend is Bella Notte. Ask to sit either in the front or on the patio area if it is nice, it is Italian food and a nice dinner. It is also near the mall.

As far as shopping, I recommend checking out Joseph Beth if you like books and gifts, lots of fun stuff there (it is also near the mall.) There are a couple of other fun stores near it in the same shopping area. If you are shopping for clothes, there are a couple places that are local and unique, Bella Rose has a lot of designer labels, depends on your budget, it isn%26#39;t cheap but is fun. Mod Boutique in Chevy Chase near Starbucks also has neat clothes (you can ask someone where the Chevy Chase area is- Ashland Avenue.) There is also a nice shoe shop around the corner on Ashland Ave called John%26#39;s Classic shoes- again not cheap but nice.

Both of those places are fun with friends, not overly romantic. :)

Let me know if you have questions about specific places and I can let you know details. Have fun!

I think there%26#39;s a home ball game that day, but I%26#39;d better double check. Will that affect dowtown traveling? I guess I don%26#39;t know where the football team plays, being from Illinois!

The stadium is not downtown, but traffic can affect you depending on where you are going. You would want to avoid the areas around where the following streets are close in proximity: Cooper, Alumni, Tates Creek, and Nicholasville. The stadium is about 2 miles south of downtown in between Nicholasville and Tates Creek Roads.
