Saturday Afternoon - cool things to do

Comming down tomorrow morning to Lexington. Main reason im comming down is for Legends game that night (i love baseball). Will have a few hours to hang out in the city. What is a cool place to go.... cool park or riverwalk or something.....?

I%26#39;m in Louisville, so some Lexington locals may have better thoughts on the parks. Here are some ideas though....

On your way down from Cincy, you%26#39;ll pass by the Midway exit (after Frankfort). Midway is a really quaint little town with railroad tracks running through the middle of it. Several good restaurants %26amp; shops within a two block area. Worth a look.

In Lexington, you could also check out the Kentucky Horse Park. http://www.kyhorsepark.com/

There%26#39;s also Keeneland Horse Racing Track. It%26#39;s set right in the middle of some really beautiful horse farms. They aren%26#39;t racing right now, but you can tour the grounds %26amp; do simulcast wagering I believe.

Shaker Village is only 25 miles south of Lexington.

When I was in college, we used to hang out at Jacobson Park off Richmond Road a couple of miles in toward town from the I-75 exit (#104)

Not to discourage a visit to Midway if you have time, but you will not pass the exit coming from Cincy. You would only pass it if you were coming to Lexington from Louisville on 64.

If I were you, I would come downtown and check out the Farmer%26#39;s Market on Vine Street. Eat at Stella%26#39;s Kentucky Deli on Jefferson (they close at 2pm). The best park is actually the Lexington Cemetary which is just on the edge of downtown. It is very scenic with beautiful flowers, trees, ponds, swans...and there is a lot of history there. All the places and the stadium are fairly close together, so it should be easy. If you have additional time, maybe walk through the historic district of Gratz Park (a nice older upscale neighborhood and park). Maybe take a tour of Henry Clay%26#39;s home, Ashland, off of Richmond Road close to town.

Thinking about going to Raven Run Nature Sanctuary and then the game. Love hiking and it sounds very scenic... time well spent?

Raven Run is great. I was there last weekend. I love to go down to the old mill and there is a series of small waterfalls. It is not Niagara Falls, but very pleasant. If you have the time, I would defintely check it out. If you are coming from downtown, take Richmond Road toward I75, take a right at Old Richmond Road across from Jacobson Park. Take a right on Jacks Creek at the convenience store just past the church. Jacks Creek winds a little bit and you will go a few miles and the park will be on your left.

Oh crap. Georgeglass is right. I forgot that Midway is before the (-64/I-75 merge. Sorry for the misinfo.

Did Raven Run.... awesome place, very rustic and scenic and secluded. Overview is nice. Trails are fun. Lexington Legends game is a great event, definately enjoyed my weekend down there!!
