Lodging near Iriquois Park

Hello,

My husband and I would like to attend a couple of the plays being held at Iriquois Park this summer. Are there any bed and breakfast inns or small hotels near the area. We%26#39;d also be interested dining suggestions. Thanks, Nancy

As you can see there aren%26#39;t any near Iroquois Park. You can also see that there aren%26#39;t any hotels out there, either. You will notice that the bulk of our B%26amp;Bs are in Old Louisville. I suggest you check out the reviews here on TA and pick one there. It%26#39;s a nice area full of old Victorian homes.

For dining, check out this map I started for Louisville%26#39;s original restaurants.

None of these are chains. They all have good to outstanding food. My favorites: Havana Rumba, Seviche, Sapporo, Baxter Station, Brendan%26#39;s, Jack Fry%26#39;s, Impellizeri%26#39;s (for pizza). And if you end up staying in Old Louisville at one of the B%26amp;B%26#39;s, you%26#39;ll be close to Amici%26#39;s, a great little Italian place with the atmosphere you would expect from a real Italian restaurant.

If there were hotels near Irquois Park, I would not advise stay there. There are some nice hotels downtown, also not a safe area, but not too bad these days. I recommend the 21c hotel/museum. Proof restaurant is located in the same building - part of the hotel. There are some great restuarants here. It%26#39;s hard to suggest any without knowing a price range or what type of food interests you.

I don%26#39;t think the downtown hotels are unsafe at all! The downtown area is doing so much better with the expanded waterfront, trolley service around downtown and many nice places to eat and visit, such as the Slugger Museum, the Ali Center, Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Center for the Arts, etc. The Speed Museum is beautiful. Iroquois isn%26#39;t a great area, but they do have some fun ampitheatre productions; a bit on the amateur side but fun nonetheless. Shakespeare in the Park is worth a visit, and it is performed near the mant B%26amp;Bs near Central Park. If you choose one of them, it%26#39;s an easy drive down Third Street to get to Iroquois. There is an excellent Vietnamese restaurant close to Iroquois Park called Vietnam Kitchen. Truly authentic, a great value and the food is amazing! It%26#39;s set back in a shopping center a bit off the road, but not too hard to find. Just watch ordering anything with an asterisk beside it, it will be HOT! Lots of good dining around Louisville, a couple good ones near Central Park..Third Ave Cafe, Buck%26#39;s.
