I%26#39;m planning to stop in Louisville on Labor Day, on my way back from St. Louis. I expect to be in town around lunchtime and want to hit ear-x-tacy and a couple other places in the Highlands. But I just wanted to check and make sure that there are no big holiday events going on that will have traffic bollixed up...and if there are, what areas should I avoid.
Also, how is the Zappos.com outlet store in Shepherdsville? Is it worth the small detour?
Labor Day
Traffic on Bardstown Rd. at Noon on a weekday is always pretty bad. Not so bad that you can%26#39;t get through. Just stop %26amp; go. I live a couple of blocks from Ear-X-tacy. The Zappos outlet store is hit or miss. It just depends on what they have in the store on that particular day.
Labor Day
Thanks!
I%26#39;m looking forward to getting back to Louisville, even if just briefly. It%26#39;s a great city!
unless you are going south on I-65, I wouldn%26#39;t make a stop at Zappos. Love the online store and concept, but the retail store was mainly filled with odd sizes and funky stuff. I did find some UGG boots for my daughter off season, but the store is really small and not so great.
Also, I wanted to remind you to check ahead for what will be open for lunch. Quite a few places are closed on Monday to begin with and I%26#39;m sure a few will have holiday closings. The best source for information is at www.louisvillehotbytes.com on the restaurant forum.
I see your name has ';swords'; in it. Are you a fencer by any chance? Just wondering...my daughter is a sabre fencer.
Yeah, I seem to be getting mixed reviews on the Zappos outlet. I%26#39;m inclined to stop just because I don%26#39;t know when I%26#39;ll be down in the area again, but I%26#39;ll probably keep an eye on time and if I feel behind schedule, I%26#39;ll give it a miss.
My user name is actually a reference to a long-defunct minor league hockey team. The first time I signed up at TripAdvisor to answer a question, it was all I could think of, so now I%26#39;m stuck with it!
There are two shoe stores on Preston Street and Market which sell sample shoes and end of lots. Hit or miss, but%26#39;s it%26#39;s not far from Bardstown road. I have found some great deals on truly beautiful shoes....ie I bought two paies of Donald Pliner shoes for $40 each. They are amazing, comfy...well, they usually retail from 300-500 dollars!
The new zappo%26#39;s outlet store in very large. it is right across the street from the old one. I%26#39;ve had luck finding shoes of a particular color. If you really love shoes, you can%26#39;t go wrong there. They have a lot of designer high heeled shoes. Good luck!!
That%26#39;s great to hear! Evidently I was in the old one inside the main building and it was not big. Thanks for sharing that!
