I am planning a trip with my husband and another couple to General Butler State Park over the summer. We have 37 foot fifth wheel with slide outs. Anyone familiar with the campground? We like wooded sites with some privacy. I would really appreciate any campsite recommendations.
General Butler State ParkWe stayed at General Butler last year, and thought it was a very nice campground. There are wooded sites, and definitely more privacy than most commercial campgrounds we%26#39;ve stayed in. I can%26#39;t help you with a campsite. We stayed at the back of the 2nd loop, which had lots of room, as well as privacy, but there was a serious odor problem there. I think their septic system must have emptied very close by! When we were thinking about staying there again this year, I called and asked about that problem, but they acted like they%26#39;d never heard of it before. Don%26#39;t let that discourage you - because it really is a nice park - just don%26#39;t stay at the back of the second loop. ;)
General Butler State ParkI%26#39;ve only seen (not stayed in) the campground, but it looks to be very nice; possibly the ';odor'; was from the nearby lake if it was late summer and there was rotting vegetation? That said, it%26#39;s a wonderful park; great and clean Olympic-sized pool, awesome buffet, gorgeous lodge lobby (I stayed in a room; also very nice with wooded private balcony view), nice hiking, and an interesting historic home with music each summer Saturday night. Also in a cute little river town. Visit Kentucky State Parks: America%26#39;s Finest!
