First time Derby!

Hi, All!

I%26#39;ve just arrived in Louisville..will be staying at The Galt House with my mom and two sisters. Mom is from Alabama and this is her dream trip! Any suggestions on restaurants (where we could still get a reservation!) for the weekend? We are a fun group of gals and would like to go both big and get the local flavor. Thanks for any suggestions!

First time Derby!

I checked on www.opentable.com and found a few restaurants with availability. One was Asiatique in the Highlands, which is wonderful. However, 21 restaurants had no availability, if that indicates to you why you must reserve early. There will be other small places open and serving, but expect a wait. Since you%26#39;re staying at the Galt House, they may try to give you preference for a table, but it will be VERY expensive.

First time Derby!

I did a quick search for tonight for four people on OpenTable.com (at 7pm) and it looks like tonight will be no problem. There are several good options.

Palermo Viejo on Bardstown Road is fantastic. It%26#39;s an Argentinian style steakhouse with a great wine list.

If you%26#39;re not into steak, take a look at Cafe Lou Lou, Avalon or Asiatique.

The options are a fewer for Friday %26amp; Saturday, still a few good choices. You can quickly look up their menus here.

Also, not all local restaurants are listed on OpenTable.com so, if you see something you like on MenusOfLouisville, give them a call.

My favorite restaurant is Jack Fry%26#39;s. You may be able to get in tonight (if you are VERY lucky). Forget about Friday or Saturday. They are open for lunch if you can%26#39;t get in for dinner.

A drive out to Captain%26#39;s Quarters restaurant %26amp; eat dinner on the deck overlooking the river would also be a nice lunch choice.

As a musician, I%26#39;ve worked in many restaurants at Derby time. Sometimes people make reservations at several places and just pick one. Lousy thing, but it happens. I also suggest you look at www.louisvillehotbytes for ideas. If I were you, like Seagrover suggest, call the restaurants. Many have early seating available. My favorite place is Seviche on Bardstown Rd. Delicious food. However, we have many, many great places here. Truly lucky.

Thanks! Of course, I had wanted to eat at 3 of the restaurants with no reservations avail on Open Table, but will follow up with those you%26#39;ve suggested. Have a great weekend!
