Visiting Louisville

What are some can%26#39;t miss attractions and /or family friendly restaurants in the Louisville area? QWe are attneding my older son%26#39;s graduation from Boot Camp at Ft Knox and want to see some attractions while we are visiting Kentucky that my 4 yr old would also enjoy-

Visiting Louisville

-Churchill Downs (horses not running right now), but the museum is open.

-Louisville Slugger Museum/Factory

-Falls of the Ohio

-Ride the Belle of Louisville steamboat

-Frazier Arms Museum

-Muhammad Ali Museum

-21C Hotel has a great modern/interactive art collection

-Eat at Lynn%26#39;s Paradise Cafe (Kids love the atmosphere. Adults like the food.)

Be sure to check out the ';go lists'; for Louisville. The above is just off the top of my head. I%26#39;m sure I%26#39;ve forgotten lots of stuff.

Visiting Louisville

A four year old would like the Lou. Science Center downtown and also Waterfront Park with several playgrounds. Most restaurnats would be family friendly especially at an early hour 5-7. I know you mentioned the zoo in an earlier post, but there is also a place called Henry%26#39;s Ark that has animals. Also I find boys like the Falls of the Ohio. Lots of walking on the falls and seeing rocks and fossils. There is a pumpkin farm in Southern Indiana- Hubers. Hope this helps!

I agree with the comments above about the Science Center and Waterfront Park both in downtown. I realize you asked in another post about hotel options near the zoo - you might want to reconsider and find something downtown and then just drive out to the zoo (likely less than 20 minutes). On the way you could stop by Old Louisville (St James Court) for a brief walk and beautiful architecture and the U of L campus. Churchill Downs is nearby, too.

Also, downtown likely has more restaurant options than you%26#39;ll find near the zoo or at the airport. You can find several casual dining spots that would be child friendly early in the evening. And, plenty of dining spots (many with outside dining options) off either Frankfort Ave or Bardstown Rd (again, just 10-15 minutes drive).

Thanks for all the great suggestions!!! Tina
