We spent three nights in a rustic cabin. I thought it was cute and well supplied. There was central air conditioning, a good sized kitchen, the living area with a stone fireplace and the one bedroom with a queen size bed. We also had a nice deck off the back of the cabin. The area was quiet and it was a short drive down to the falls. After checking in we went to the Krogers in Corbin and bought supplies. The drive is about 17 miles.
The only drawback was that we had field mice in the cabin. My son had the sofa bed in the living area and the second night he was awakened by the sounds of the mice. The third night was worse. We were glad we had only booked three nights.

Mami,
Can you give us a trip report? I%26#39;m really curious to hear what you thought about your trip through Kentucky. What all did you do at The Falls?
rustic cabin in Cumberland Falls
Day 1-We started in Horse Cave-our first full day was spent doing the Grand Ave Tour at Mammoth Cave which we really enjoyed. We had dinner at the Sahara Steak House which I did not like.
Day 2 we went took the Jim Beam bourbon tour and then on to Louisville. First was the L Slugger Museum and we wandered about some. On the way back we found a liquor store and were able to stock up on beer.
Day 3 we went into the town of Horse Cave itself and did the River Cave tour. We also talked about poor Floyd who had been trapped in a cave. We were given an alternate route to Mammoth Cave which took us by his grave. We had lunch at the Travertine Restaurant which was really good. At 4:30 we did the Historic tour.
Day 4 we went to Bowling Green for the Corvette Museum, the Factory tour and the Duncan Hines exhibit. We had a really good dinner at the Catfish House (loved the okra and hushpuppies).
Day 5 we went on to Cumberland Falls and settled into the rustic cabin. We went into Corbin to shop at the Krogers and had dinner back at the cabin.
Day 6 we hiked around the falls and to Eagle Falls. Never did find the trail to the base of the falls to see Rebel Rock. This was partly because my teen felt it was too hot for hiking. The guys did not want to go rafting. We did go to the Depot for dinner and loved the cheesy fries.
Day 7 we rode the South Fork Railroad and saw the various coal mining exhibits. Some hiking in the afternoon but it was really buggy that day. Dinner was back at the cabin to finish our leftovers before moving on to Slade.
Day 8 we had lunch at the original KFC restaurant and traveled on to our next cabin. The guys did not want to stop in Berea or other places so we just drove on in search of another Krogers near Slade. We were able to stock up in Stantin but we were low on beer. We rented a cabin from the 5 Star Cabin Rentals and it was really impressive and in a wet county. Our cabin had a pool table, two decks, two tvs and two bathrooms. Unfortunately the road down to the cabin was very steep and our poor Camry struggled to get up the graveled incline so we only ventured out once a day.
Day 9 we got a late start (that pool table!) but did do the original trail to the Natural Bridge and the Sky Ride, lunch was at Miguel%26#39;s Pizza.
Day 10 we were back to do the Battleship Trail including the Needle and Lovers Leap (scary the way the path just ends). We follwed the trail back to the bridge and took the Balanced Trail down. As soon as we arrived at the cabin it started to rain really hard. I was so glad that didn%26#39;t happen while we were on the trails. The rain stopped for about an hour and then came down even harder causing us to lose the signal from the dish. The upper deck was a great spot to watch the rain and read our books.
Day 11 We took the Scenic Drive-went through Nada Tunnel and off toward the Skybridge. Lunch was at Miguel%26#39;s again.
Day 12 we were homeward bound with a stop at the Ruth Hunt Candy factory.
We really enjoyed our trip and met the nicest people. Only rude person we met was at Mammoth when we pulled over to take pictures and a church van behind us took issue with that. I don%26#39;t know what her problem was, there was plenty of room to pass us. I gained 7 pounds on this trip from eating all that great food. Most of it is gone now but I do long for a baking powder biscuit or some hushpuppies.
