Labor Day weekend, 2 of my friends and I will be taking a 3 day weekend going somewhere within a 2 or 3 hour distance. We are having a problem coming up with a place to go. Looking for ideas if anyone has any. We are in the Dayton, OH area. We want to be able to stay somewhere close to bars and shopping if we wanted to go out. Looking at Indy, Louisville, Columbus. Something somewhere with a lot of things to do and see. Any ideas will be appreciated!
Girls weekend...need some ideas!
Give us a little more info on what kind of activities you%26#39;re looking for. Not sure if you want outdoorsy/nature-stuff, museums, shopping and/or nightlife.

If you want to be close to bars and shopping, I%26#39;d highly recommend Louisville (which also has culture and/or nature, if you%26#39;re more into that). Check out the 21 C hotel (ultra-modern) or Seelbach or Brown (historic) downtown, visit Fourth Street live, catch a show... Some of the Louisville experts can further advise you. Newport is also a great area.
If you stayed in downtown Louisville (like the Mariott) you could walk the block or two to 4th Street Live where there are several restaurants and LOTS of night life!!
I used to live in Vandalia, Ohio and now live in Indiana. I have stayed in Louisville downtown (Galt). It is nice. Or travel on I-70 to Indianapolis and stay downtown. We have lots to do including Circle Centre Mall, Eteljorg Musuem, Triple A baseball (believe it or not, the games are fun and the little staduim is BEAUTIFUL!), the Indianapolis Zoo, IMAX theater, canal with paddle boats, etc. There are some spas and fun resturants including the Melting Pot. Other good shopping areas just outside the city are Metropolis at Plainfield (new, outdoor mall), Carmel (fancy shopping in outdoor mall), and Greenwood Mall, etc. The nightlife is the only thing that is a little lacking downtown however just a few miles from downtown is a little area called Broad Ripple that has a cool nightlife, quaint shops, nice resturants. It is a unique little area. The city has worked hard to make downtown pretty and safe. I feel very comfortable walking around day or night!

The Bardstwon Kentucky area is a wonderful place for a girls weekend. You are close to shopping, antiques, Wineries and Bourbon Trail. I would stay at a Bed %26amp; Breakfast. Springhill Winery and Plantation B%26amp;B is a great Place to stay. I think they even have girls weekend packages.
