I am a student coming to Louisville for a short visit. I found out that Bus number 2 can take me from Airport to Downtown area. I am wondering if it is safe to ride bus during the night. I am arriving at about 10 PM and might be in the bus for another 1/2 hour. Also is there any shuttle operating between airport and downtown.
Reply would be much appreciated.

Safe to take bus during night
The Northbound route for Bus 2 does go from the airport to downtown (5th and Market, I believe) - exact stops can be found on TARC website (just google TARC). I don%26#39;t generally use the bus at night but believe it to be safe.
The bigger issues are that the schedule at night is not that good. I believe there is a departure from the airport at 10:19 PM and then another at 11:14 PM. Weekday nights the final bus is at 12:34 AM. And, then not sure where you are headed downtown - probably don%26#39;t want to be walking too far, too late with luggage.
If you are staying in a hotel, the hotel might provide a shuttle. Or, you might have to spring for a taxi (fixed fare from the airport to downtown - make sure you%26#39;ve got a few $US).
IF you really get stuck and need transportation, post here and I might be able to help as I live just a few minutes from the airport.
Safe to take bus during night
Thanks for such detailed information. I have checked TARC website and it does seem to work out with my schedule. My hotel is in 2nd %26amp; Liberty and there is a bus stop couple of blocks away. I wont have any big luggage so walking shouldn%26#39;t be a problem. I greatly appreciate your offer to pick me up but since the bus seem to work out well, I probably will not be needing it. It was very kind of you to offer that.
Thank You. Looking forward to visit your beautiful city.
Sounds like you are set. If you ask nicely, the bus driver might even let you off at 2nd and Liberty - likely not supposed to but sometimes they will especially late in the evening and not too many folks on-board.
Also, depending on the purpose of your trip, time here in Louisville and your interests, there is plenty of good info available on Trip Advisor.
Hope you enjoy Louisville.
