Dino World - KY Down Under??

Was just looking around the KY website and noticed Dino World in Cave CIty and KY Down Under (KY Cavern) near Bowling Green, I think my 3 young boys would like KY Down Under but would like your input on all of these attractions? Still looking for a great place to stay once we find an attraction to go to. Thanks!

Dino World - KY Down Under??

Personally, I%26#39;m not a fan of Dino World, it is a cheesy novelty but KY Down Under is fun. My kids enjoyed it. You will be right near Mammoth Cave as well which is really the main attraction of the region. There is a Hampton Inn in Horse Cave, KY that is nice and clean. Bowling Green has the Corvette plant and museum if your boys are into cars. Farther north is Glendale which has a nice restaurant called the Whistle Stop (also great antique shops but probably not much fun for young boys) continuing north is Elizabethtown which has a cute new Coca Cola museum with a replica old soda fountain. Ft Knox has the Patton Museum with lots of tanks and helicopters for the kids to climb on. Next would be Louisville which has many many attractions like the Slugger Museum and Factory, Derby Museum, Six Flags, zoo, minor league baseball, etc. Have fun!

Dino World - KY Down Under??

Thanks so much for all the info...it will definitly help with final decisions!

We just returned from our trip thru KY. Our three young children made their way thru Mammoth but it wasn%26#39;t a big deal for them. Don%26#39;t get me wrong - they loved being in the cave %26amp; exploring but it could get tiring. We offset the adult geared attractions with child geared attractions. We visited Dino World and Mammoth Wildlife Museum. Both are highly recommended by my family for lil%26#39; ones. Dino World offers a great walking tour, a park to get that pent up energy out, a fossil dig, and a boneyard which is essentially a giant sandbox. The Wildlife Museum was exciting - the children were anxious to see what was around each corner.

Kentucky Down Under is a cute little park that has several shows. You can feed lorikeets, learn to play a diggeridoo, feed sheep, pet kangaroos, watch a sheep herding demonstration, and even tour an onyx cave. It%26#39;s a nice way to spend an afternoon, and I bet your boys would enjoy it.

I didn%26#39;t visit Dino World, but we did drive by. It did look a little hokey from the outside. We have a daughter, so it wasn%26#39;t on a list of must sees for us.

If your boys like amusement parks, you can visit Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green. It%26#39;s a very reasonable small amusement park. I liked it because I don%26#39;t ride, and all I had to do was pay gate admission. I think it was $5 or $10. Wristbands are available. They have a great coaster, the Kentucky Rumbler. My husband and daughter gave it rave reviews!

Enjoy your trip.

I would also like to add a recommendation for Comfort Inn %26amp; Suites in Cave City. It is relatively new and we had a good experience. I have a review on this site.

Two of my three are girls are they LOVED it! We were so lured in with the hokieness!!! lol We%26#39;re suckers. Actually we saw the attraction listed online before going there. The entrance just made it that much more exciting for us.

My grandsons (ages 10, 8, and 6) loved Dino World and I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and nice it was. Our entire family (kids, parents, and grandparents) really enjoyed visiting there and would return. One of my grandsons is dinasour crazy and he was in heaven. Lots of great picture opportunities too.

KY Down Under is also a great place to visit. I%26#39;m not all that crazy about caves but this tour is fairly sort (about 30 minutes) and the cave is quite interesting. The animals were fun and the boys loved going there. If you have the time I would visit both places - they%26#39;re different in their appeal but equally fun.
