Downtown restaurant recommendations

Staying at the Galt House in the downtown area(no car), do you have any suggestions for dinner in the area? Looking for good food, local favorites.

Thanks in advance!

Downtown restaurant recommendations

A local favorite in downtown is Vincenzo%26#39;s. Northern Italian in a lovely setting. Right across from Galt House is Jeff Ruby%26#39;s . It%26#39;s an upscale steakhouse with other good options and is very good. The Galt House has an upscale restaurant called Rivue which gets good reviews, but is pricey. I%26#39;ve not been. I love the restaurant in the eclectic 21C hotel, Proof on Main. Artemesia on Market Street is excellent. Down the way a bit is Melillo%26#39;s, a family traditional style Italian place which is wonderful. I know a lot of people steer people to the Bristol, but I cannot stand the place. 2 of my worst dining experiences were there.

I agree with most of the recommendations from Linda. I have been to Rivue in the Galt House. It was very good but pricey. I%26#39;d suggest, at least, a glass of wine to enjoy the view and then head out somewhere else. I especially like Artemesia on Market Street - jazz some nights (but you will need a taxi to get there from the Galt House). I prefer the more casual Melillo%26#39;s to Vincenzo%26#39;s (ditto on the taxi).

And, if you want to get a bit out of downtown there are some great dining options on Baxter/Bardstown (Lilly%26#39;s, Jack Fry%26#39;s) and on Frankfort Ave. Both should be just a 15 minute taxi from the Galt House.

If you do a search on this forum for ';restaurant';, you%26#39;ll get lots of information.
