I need your help BADLY - Worlds Longest Yard Sale

Hi there, I need some help. In August 2009, my mother and I will be going to the Worlds Longest Yard Sale. Problem?, I live in Bermuda. I know how I am getting there, but once we get there....I don%26#39;t know where to make the reservations for the hotels/motels/bed %26amp; breakfasts etc. because I have know idea where they are in relation to the yard sale. Do any of you know where we can lodge? We will be arriving in Chattanooga, Tennessee on August 5th to start the yard sale on the 6th and will be traveling our way along the Yard Sale Route on Hwy 127 to until we get to Cincinnati, Kentucky at the end of the yard sale on August 9th. So we will need accommodation for the 5th in Chattanooga for sure and the 6,7,8, and 9 the are up in the air. Please let me know if you know of anywhere we could lodge, preferably close to the yard sale route (as we have a penchant for getting lost). Thank you so much.

Hey people, sorry about the ';Cincinnati, Kentucky'; thing. I now realize that Cincinnati is actually in Ohio. Please excuse me.

I%26#39;ve never done the yard sale, but I took a look at what%26#39;s along the Hwy 127 route. I%26#39;m guessing that you%26#39;d want to split each day up into no more than two hour drives.

The first night (after Chattanooga) is a tough one. Keep in mind that in the first leg, these are really small towns.

The night of August 6th:

You might want to check on accommodations in Russell Springs, KY. Or you could drive about 20 miles east of Hwy 127 and stay in Somerset, KY which is larger and will have more dining %26amp; lodging options. Hwy 80 that leads to Somerset is a four lane highway and a straight shot which would be easy to navigate.

August 7th:

There are several good options for this evening.

Harrodsburg, KY is a scenic town with several bed %26amp; breakfasts or the historic Beaumont Inn. Or you might enjoy staying at The Inn at Shaker Village and spend some time the next morning exploring Shakertown. They do tours, there%26#39;s a restaurant and riverboat rides. Might be a fun side-trip.

The other option would be to stay in Lexington, KY on Aug. 7th. It%26#39;s a city and there%26#39;s are tons of lodging options. I really like The Gratz Park Inn downtown. You%26#39;d be close to many good restaurants. The Kentucky Horse Park is also located in Lex. Keeneland Race Track (where they filmed Seabiscuit) is also in Lex, but won%26#39;t be running in August. http://www.gratzparkinn.com/

August 8th:

From Lexington to Cincinnati is only a couple of hours. So if you go straight to Cincinnati the next day, you%26#39;d arrive there on August 8th.

The little town of Midway, KY is worth a side trip. It%26#39;s really quaint with lots of shops %26amp; some nice restaurants centered around the railroad tracks that run through the middle of town. I found this photo of it on flickr.com Not sure if there%26#39;s enough to do to spend the night, but I%26#39;d make it a lunch stop and do some shopping.

This is where I%26#39;d stay if I were to spend the night in Midway http://www.hollyhillinn.com/

When you get to Cincinnati, OH, you have a ton of lodging options. It%26#39;s a large city. I lived there about 10 years ago. I like to stay downtown at The Westin, but I just like the beds. You%26#39;d be in walking distance of plenty of restaurants.

You could also stay just across the river in Covington, KY. There%26#39;s a neat little area called ';MainStrasse Village'; with lots of restaurants %26amp; pubs. There%26#39;s a Radisson Hotel and a Holiday Inn right there. Look for Radisson Hotel ';Riverfront'; or Holiday Inn Riverfront. tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g39299-d14…

Mt. Adams (on the Cincinnati side) is also a fun little area to wander around. That%26#39;s where I lived. I don%26#39;t think there%26#39;s any lodging on Mt. Adams though. If you go, take a taxi. It%26#39;s hard to park and it would be difficult to navigate for someone unfamiliar with the area. http://www.mtadamstoday.com/index.php

Hope this helps some. Best of luck.

Where to stay in Chattanooga depends on a few things. What area of the city do you want to be in? Downtown? Lookout Valley? East Brainerd? What is your price range? Will you be spending any time checking out the city itself or is it just a jumping off point for the yard sale?

Downtown you%26#39;re looking at around $130 a night. In other areas accommodations will be considerably cheaper, in most cases less than $100 a night.
